Jackson Earns All af2 Honors

“Big Play Ray” Selected To American Conference’s Second Team

ALBANY, NY – The Albany Firebirds announced today that Alvin Ray Jackson has been selected as the American Conference’s All-af2 Second Team Jack Linebacker. Overall, 72 players from 19 of the league’s 25 teams were selected to either the American or National Conference All-af2 First and Second Teams as voted on by af2 head coaches and media.

“Who got first team?” joked Jackson, upon hearing the announcement. “I was hoping for this award, but definitely not expecting it. My team helped me a lot and I was hoping that we would be rewarded in some way for our team effort. I’m just thankful to receive an award. I think a lot of people are going to be aware of me after this year and I hope that it brings some good things to me in the near future.”

This season Jackson emerged as the Firebirds top playmaker on both sides of the ball. He led the defense with eight interceptions, five of which came on June 13th vs. Mahoning Valley as he set an af2 record for most interceptions in a game. Jackson also led the Firebirds with four fumble recoveries and his 51 tackles ranked second on the team. At Wide Receiver, Jackson led Albany with 99 receptions and 25 receiving touchdowns. His 1,123 receiving yards ranked second on the team. The two-time af2 JLS IronMan of the Week and eight-time JLS IronMan of the Game led Albany in total scoring with 28 touchdowns for 176 points.
