af2 Notes: Entering his third year in the af2

af2 Experience: Spent the last 2 season with the Quad City Steamwheelers. 2008: recorded 66 tackles (43 solo), 1 interception, 5 fumble recoveries and a safety in 13 games. Received a hit of the game and defensive player of the game awards. 2007: recorded 19.5 tackles (15 solo) and one sack in four games. 

Other Professional Experience: None                                                                                       

College: Played one year (2005) with Western Illinois under head coach Dan Patterson. Also attended Joliet Junior College and Lakeland Community College.

Personal: Malik attended Bollingbrook high school and played football, basketball and ran track. He grew up watching the Chicago Bears and Bulls and he used to pretend to be Walter Payton and Jim Brown on the field. Malik’s greatest moment in life was the birth of his daughter  and his most important pre-game ritual is a “mandatory I love you” from his "heart."

2009: Assigned during Week 7 and expected to see action on 5/9/09 at Bossier-Shreveport…Recorded four tackles and three pass break-ups in his first action of the season on 05/09/09 at Bossier-Shreveport…added 2.5 tackles to his total on 05/16/09 against Manchester…Recorded his first forced fumble and fumble recovery of the year in Week 10 on 5/30/09 vs. Milwaukee... Notched three tackles in his third straight start in Week 11 on 06/05/09 at Manchester…did not play in Week 12 on 06/13/09 vs. Mahoning Valley…Caught his first interceptions of the year in Week 14 against Peoria on 6/26/09…Tied for the team-lead with 7 tackles in Week 16 against Manchester on 7/11/09
